Make something great out of the humble white cabbage.
Rouladen or as we say in Danish "dolmer".
Delicious stuffing rolled in cabbage leaves.
You will need the following incl. stuffing:
1 large size Cabbage
500 g ground pork
1 medium size onion finely chopped
3 cloves garlic finely chopped
1 tin crushed tomato
1 cup boiled rice
½ tsp dried thyme
½ tsp crushed all spice
salt and pepper
a little butter
Boil the cabbage for a few minuttes so the leaves are easily removed. Cut of the thick stem.
Mix the two kind of meat with egg, onion, garlic, tomato and rice. Mix it well and if it feels to dry stir in a little
milk or bouillon (use vegetable or chicken stock/cube). Add the spices, salt & pepper. For tasting you can fry a little meatball and adjust the flavor to your liking.
Place a big spoon of the filling in the middle of the
leave and fold it like an envalope or roll it like a spring roll.
Place the rouladen in a butter greased baking tray. Add a little water or bouillon.
Bake in a pre-heated oven for about 45 minuttes at 180C.
